At the January 6, 2015 Mill Creek City Council meeting, the City Council elected Brian Holtzclaw to serve as Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Pro Tem Holtzclaw has been on the Council since January 2014. Given Mayor Pro Tem Harmsworth’s recent resignation from the Council, the Council needed to select a new Mayor Pro Tem to fill the position through December 31, 2015.
The City of Mill Creek operates within the Council-Manager form of government which is characterized by a separation of executive and legislative powers and a system of checks and balances patterned after our traditional national and state governments. This form consists of seven councilmembers elected at large to four-year terms. Every two years, the City Council elects a Mayor from its members to serve as the chair of the Council.
